Toute zone monétaire, toute réforme des monnaies communes existantes, doivent promouvoir la possibilité d’un espace de décision des politiques macroéconomiques susceptibles d’entraîner des changements nécessaires et urgents. En Afrique, ces changements concernent les chantiers de la transformation structurelle dont les éléments constitutifs sont les infrastructures, les ressources humaines et les institutions. Pour s’attaquer à ces chantiers essentiels, l’auteur démontre qu’il faut accorder toute l’attention à un cadre de politique macroéconomique approprié qui s’appuie sur une stratégie de développement à long terme.

The African Experience of Monetary Unions : Lessons, Concerns, Challenges

Any monetary zone, any reform of the existing common currencies, must promote the possibility of a space for decision-making on macroeconomic policies likely to bring about necessary and urgent changes. In Africa, these changes concern the structural transformation projects, such as infrastructure, human resources and institutions. To tackle these essential projects, the author demonstrates that attention must be paid to an appropriate macroeconomic policy framework based on a long-term development strategy.

This article analyzes the dynamics and role of local governments in the management of waste and unsanitary conditions in the city of Kinshasa (DR Congo). Within the framework of decentralization, other public decision-making bodies are created, distinguished from each other through the socio-political role they play within society and they claim from the hierarchy means of appropriate action.

Dans un contexte de pluralisme sanitaire à Kinshasa, une prise en charge médicale centrée sur le patient pose des défis spécifiques et exige que les cliniciens aient une compétence transculturelle clinique, c’est-à-dire qu’ils adoptent un comportement adapté aux besoins du patient, et disposent des connaissances et des techniques appropriées. Le point de vue de l’anthropologie médicale que nous proposons ici permet de mieux cerner l’approche culturelle de la maladie ou de l’infortune.

Story of Illnesses and Quest for Health : Anthropological Reading of Therapeutic Endeavors in Kinshasa

In a context of health pluralism in Kinshasa, patient-centered medical care poses specific challenges and requires that clinicians have clinical cross-cultural competence, that is to say that they adopt a behavior adapted to the needs of the patient and have the appropriate knowledge and techniques. The point of view of medical anthropology that we offer here allows us to better understand the cultural approach to illness or unhappiness.

L’Église catholique a organisé, à Rome, une Assemblée Spéciale du Synode des Évêques pour la région de l’Amazonie, du 6 au 27 octobre 2019. Quels enseignements l’Église d’Afrique peut-elle tirer de ce synode ? En quoi cet événement pourrait-il inspirer son action future ? Quels pourraient être les axes de l’engagement pastoral de l’Église d’Afrique par rapport, principalement, à l’écologie intégrale après le synode ? C’est à ces questions que l’auteur de cet article réagit en présentant la dynamique du synode, les thèmes développés, et quelques orientations pour l’action pastorale, culturelle, écologique et sociale de l’Église d’Afrique.

Lessons from the Synod on the Amazon for Africa and the Congo Basin : Environmental Crisis and Ecological Conversion

The Catholic Church organized in Rome a Special Assembly of the Synod of Bishops for the Amazon region from October 6 to 27, 2019. What lessons can the Church of Africa learn from this synod ? How could this event inspire its future action ? What could be the axes of the pastoral commitment of the Church of Africa in relation, mainly, to integral ecology after the synod ? It is to these questions that the author of this article responds by presenting the dynamics of the synod, the themes developed, and some orientations for the pastoral, cultural, ecological and social action of the Church of Africa.

Tabu Ley Rochereau et le rythme subsaharien

On reconnaît en Tabu Ley Rochereau un chanteur-compositeur à la belle voix et aux capacités créatrices des chansons agréables à écouter. Il a débuté sa carrière dans African Jazz, mais c’est dans Africa Fiesta que s’est éclos son talent d’auteur-compositeur. L’abondance des chansons publiées en 1963 et 1964 l’a rendu célèbre au Congo et en Afrique. En plus, il a joué aussi un rôle majeur dans la promotion du ‘’rythme bantou’’ qui aujourd’hui est pratiqué dans toute l’Afrique et constitue la rythmique de base de toutes les formes de musique des jeunes. L’article explique ce phénomène.

Tabu Ley Rochereau and the Sub-Saharan Rhythm

We recognize in Tabu Ley Rochereau a singer-songwriter with a beautiful voice and the creative capacities of songs that are pleasant to listen to. He started his career in African Jazz, but it was in Africa Fiesta that his talent as a songwriter was born. The abundance of songs published in 1963 and 1964 made him famous in the Congo and in Africa. Besides, he also played a major role in the promotion of the “Bantu rhythm” which today is practiced throughout Africa and constitutes the basic rhythm of all forms of music for young people. The article explains this phenomenon.
